Bellingen Muse 2024 Performers

Nomad String Quartet

Nomad is the ‘Muse Festival Ensemble’ for 2024 and will play each day of the festival, performing works by Vivaldi, Mozart, Mendelssohn and more.

Bringing the energy of a rock band and the spontaneity of a jazz ensemble, Nomad is passionately committed to breathing new life into classical music.

Nomad have invited the BYO Sinfonia ensemble to join them for a special performance of the Danish Folk Songs.

ZOJ

Zoj features Gelareh Pour on voice and Persian Kamancheh, and Brian O’Dwyer on percussion.

Pour’s classical background comes through in masterful playing and evocative interpretations of Persian poetry sung in Farsi.

Together with O’Dwer’s experimental rhythms, the duo’s nuanced synergetic connection sparkles with emotion and purpose.

Galerah will also host a conversation exploring the experiences and contributions of women in Iranian music and the Women Life Freedom movement.

Alice Giles

Alice Giles AM is celebrated as one of the world’s leading harpists and has had a wide and varied international solo career.

As director of the Seven Harp Ensemble (SHE) Alice has commissioned many new works by Australian composers as well as solo works for the electro-acoustic harp.

Alice will perform a solo concert in the acoustic balm of Bellingen’s St Margaret’s church. She will also join her daughter Moran for ‘Listening with the Body’.

Alice Giles and Moran Wiesel

Listening with the Body is a journey through the powerfully moving resonances of the harp.

Alice & Moran create a space for the audience to explore the art of listening by drawing on sensory awareness and meditative practices.

The audience may move, lie or sit to engage with the sound, colour and complex patterns of the harp music.

Bellingen Youth Orchestra

The always wonderful Bellingen Youth Orchestra present an afternoon concert full of youthful exuberance and fabulous music.

This concert will feature their special guest and Patron David Helfgott on piano.

Enjoy special performances by the Orchestra Ensembles.

Moran Wiesel

Join Moran for Earth Connections, a sensory wander through the beautiful landscape of the Bellingen Valley.

Drawing on earth-based meditations, sensory and creative prompts, and playful movement, Moran will guide us to explore how we can listen to the wisdom of this interconnected Earth with our bodies.

Moran will also join her mother Alice for ‘Listening with the Body’.

For arts and culture lovers Bellingen Muse is a boutique music festival that offers intimate and diverse performances - bringing virtuosic performers to a region where nature inspires creativity and community.
